Koto and shamisen are traditional performing arts that Kyoto takes great pride in. We bring the delicate melodies and graceful atmosphere of these instruments to you.
At Gen, we host concerts and hands-on performance experiences at two venues in Kyoto: Saiin and Kujo. We are pleased to offer you an intimate experience of Japanese culture in Kyoto, a city renowned for its centuries-old traditions.

This program is designed for those who wish to deeply appreciate the beauty of koto and shamisen performances.
The program includes a variety of genres, from classical pieces to pieces expressing the four seasons of Japan, as well as pieces that are well known overseas.

Koto Lesson

This program allows you to actually touch the koto and experience basic playing techniques.
Professional musicians will guide you step by step, making it easy for even complete beginners to join.We will provide you with a valuable encounter with a traditional Japanese musical instrument.

Gen Soundbath Kujo-yu is a venue where visitors can experience the beautiful sounds of traditional Japanese musical instruments such as koto and shamisen in the unique setting of a renovated public bathhouse.
The acoustics of the public bathhouse enhance the true sound of the instruments, creating an unforgettable experience.
